Jordan Sees 8.6 Per Cent rise in Tourism Revenue

 AMMAN — The Kingdom’s tourism revenue in the first seven months of 2019 went up by 8.6 per cent to $3.2 billion, compared with the January-July period of 2018 that registered $2.95 billion, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) announced on Wednesday.

 The CBJ noted the increase in the rise of the total number of tourists by 6.3 per cent, when compared to the same period of 2018, to 2.97 million people, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

 At a monthly level, preliminary data showed that tourism revenue in July alone went up by 10.1 per cent to $567.4 million, compared to July 2018 that registered $515.3 million, thanks to the increase in the total number of tourists by 9.8 per cent.
